Fall 2006 2006 has been another year of ESTs It was the wett EST year, with the two high EST rainfalls in Sonoma County ever recorded. We had the hott EST heat spell in August – ever. And it was the Cool EST September since 1998. Of course we are working the hard EST and doing our b EST to make wines you love. Right now the vines are not quite sure whether they are coming or going and to be quite honest neither do we. Fortunately the grapes that have already made their way to the winery are looking great and we are planning to make some special wines from this vintage.

The winemaking team - Phillipe, Dan & Mike! |
The fantastic Rockpile Cab and Zin were harvested a little over a week ago. They are still fermenting, but by the look and taste of things they may be some of the best yet. Last week Sophia and Jonathan (my little ones) joined me at the winery for some grape stomping fun. When they emerged from the bins the black color of the grapes had stained their feet a deep purple - a good sign of things to come. If you happen to see the children around the winery be sure to ask them to demonstrate their grape stomping technique, they will be most happy to show you. We are still awaiting our Estate Reds and are praying that we will see a good amount of sunshine in the near future. It is a good possibility that we will be still be harvesting in November. I hope not, but what ever it takes to make the best. I have to get back to the wines now. Happy Drinking,
