Our first ever estate Zinfandel comes from the new Hoenselaars (Hoon-se-larz) Vineyard, which is named after Dutch owner Marijke Byck-Hoenselaars. This small, very unique, vineyard is situated on the steep, rocky, hillside overlooking Lake Somapecare, The grapes were hand picked in the early morning, gentle pressed, and put in open top tanks. We then submerged the cap, cool fermented the juice and aged it in French and American oak for 10 months. Rich, complex and intense with aromas and flavors of ripe wild berries, currant and chocolate this wine finishes with soft tannins and hints of spicy-pepper and oak.
